Ground Floor Gallery presents The Spaces In-Between: Subway Drawings by Patrick Jewell, 2016-18

Thursday, August 9th, 2018

Ground Floor Gallery hosts Act 4 in their 5th anniversary exhibition, “. . . in 5 Acts,”. The fourth act features artist and master portraitist, Patrick Jewell. This will be the artist’s exhibition debut of his resonant subway drawings which capture his fellow straphangers in moments of contemplation and self-reflection. A nomadic art practice which emerged from time and space constraints in his daily life, the subway drawings are also a testament to the strength of observation and relentless dedication to one’s craft.

Exhibition closes on August 12th.

Susan Eley Fine Art presents The Poetry of Mending by Angela A’Court

Tuesday, September 13th, 2016

Susan Eley Fine Art is pleased to announce the opening of The Poetry of Mending, a solo show of new pastel paintings by Angela A’Court.  A’Court’s medium of choice is soft pastel and her genre the still life. But her still lifes are anything but still. She animates cups, jars, jugs, vases, tables and chairs on backgrounds saturated with deep blues, reds, purples and yellows. These everyday objects–adored and treasured by the artist as relics of memory and fleeting visual imagery–animate the paper surface, as actors do a stage. Each object, with its unique shape and volume, seems to buzz with a constant, low-level energy, making infinitesimal adjustments towards a psychological and physical balance with its fellow vessels.

Exhibition runs from  September 15-October 28, 2016

Opening Reception: Thursday September 15, 6-8pm
