PANEPINTO GALLERIES, in collaboration with SPEAR STREET CAPITAL, presents REFLECTIONS by Candy Le Sueur

PANEPINTO GALLERIES, in collaboration with SPEAR STREET CAPITAL, presents REFLECTIONS, highlighting artwork by Jersey City based artist Candy Le Sueur.

Candy Le Sueur is known for her large-scale expressive abstracted paintings and her intimate mixed media on paper, which includes monotypes. Her imagery offers spontaneous expressions of her perception of the land, sea and sky, seeking to remind us of the eternal beauty beyond a specific space or time.

The concept behind this exhibition entitled “Reflections” presents a collection of Le Sueur’s work created over the past four years. Her work addresses her continued fascination with the beauty of the natural world.

The expressive motion of the brushstroke, free floating colors and subtle tonal shifts in Le Sueur’s oil paintings allows one not to look for a particular landscape, but to enjoy the sheer effervescence of the paint itself. Twilight Time, a series of watercolor ink and silver leaf is a new choice of medium for Le Sueur to present her ideas. These small works on paper reflect a larger unpredictable drama of the early night sky at Twilight. Using an etching printing press, she also creates monotypes in a single process on fine Japanese paper. This versatile medium also enables her to construct the entire work from layered printed papers. (more…)
