ESCAPE at Sarah Wiseman Gallery in Oxford

Monday, July 10th, 2017

In July, Sarah Wiseman Gallery will be filled to the brim with contemporary art exploring coastal landscape, nature and summer city-scapes. For many of us, the summer months are a time to escape, re-charge and refresh, but for some artists this can be a key time to find new inspiration and ideas. The exhibition will feature exciting new work by Clare Bonnet, Christopher Farrell, Peter Kettle, Dan Parry Jones, Fletcher Prentice and Annabelle Shelton whose ‘Beach Tide’ is show above courtesy of the artist and Sarah Wiseman Gallery. For more information click here.

Summer Exhibition at the Sarah Wiseman Gallery with new works by Clare Bonnet, Charlotte Cornish, Peter Kettle and Fletcher Prentice (9 Jul-27 Aug)

Thursday, July 7th, 2016

The Sarah Wiseman Gallery in Oxford presents a Summer Exhibition featuring new works by Clare Bonnet (one of whose works is shown here courtesy of the artist and Sarah Wiseman Gallery), Charlotte Cornish, Peter Kettle and Fletcher Prentice and running from 9 July to 27 August.

Emerging talent Clare Bonnet’s work was a huge success in our Jamaica Street Artists exhibition earlier this year and this time we will show four recent, large-scale oil paintings of semi-abstract female studies. Charlotte Cornish is back in the gallery with her distinctive abstract paintings in strong, vibrant colours. Continuing his exploration of the Welsh coast and countryside, landscape painter Peter Kettle will show a collection of recent paintings introducing a new development in his use of colour, some large-scale and others in a smaller format. Fletcher Prentice has created a new series of paintings focusing on bird and plant life in his delightful loose painting style; soft yet strong in colour and rich in detail.

Sarah Wiseman presents new paintings by Fetcher Prentice

Wednesday, November 25th, 2015

Sarah Wiseman Gallery presents a new collection of paintings by Fletcher Prentice, including ‘A Cockatiel on Blue’ shown here courtesy of Sarah Wiseman. Fletcher is interested in shape, colour and the natural world along with the material qualities of paint, enjoying its texture as he uses it to build form. In these paintings, Fletcher explores bird and plant life. They are made up of tangled foliage, plumage and colour, his loose, light painting style describing the constantly shifting movement. Fletcher’s works are often described as reminiscent of the classical murals from ancient Rome, large in scale, soft yet strong in colour and rich in detail.
