Off the Beaten Track: an interview with Gallerist Ivy Brown

Ivy Brown established her New York City-based gallery in 2001 with the vision of representing and exhibiting contemporary art of all mediums. She has an educational background in fine art sculpture and art therapy as well as over twenty-two years’ worth of experience in marketing and commercial services. 

Housed in the unlikely Meatpacking District, Ivy Brown Gallery was founded as a community space dedicated to spirited creative expression. Committed to foregrounding the relationship between art and humanity, Ivy curates thought-provoking private and public exhibitions throughout the city. Bringing together emerging and established practitioners from around the globe, the gallery prides itself in being the nucleus of many enduring friendships among creatives. 

Services offered include: residential and corporate consulting, commissioned site-specific artwork, curating public and private projects, worldwide shipping and venue hire.

Gallerist, Mother, Landlord: an Interview with Susan Eley, Founder of Susan Eley Fine Art

Susan Eisner Eley founded her eponymous New York-based gallery in 2006 with a salon-style model. She holds a BA in Art History from Brown University and an MA in Visual Arts Administration from New York University. Prior to establishing her brand, Susan worked in public relations and education at the Morgan Library & Museum, NY, and interned at the Mayor’s Art Commission of the City of New York, and at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy. She is also a former professional ballet dancer with the Feld Ballet, and was a blogger for the Huffington Post.

Situated in an Upper West Side townhouse, Susan Eley Fine Art offers visitors an intimate viewing experience and an alternative way of enjoying art. The gallery prides itself in representing a bold variety of emerging and mid-career contemporary artists from all across the US, Asia, Latin America and Europe. Showcased works primarily include painting, photography, sculpture and print. 

The gallery hosts an ongoing program of solo and group exhibitions, as well as collector talks, political fundraisers, panel discussions, and literary and poetry salons. The gallery also takes part in art fairs in the USA and Canada. 

Services offered include curating, art consulting, primary and secondary market sales, and jurying.

A Visit to GARY LICHTENSTEIN EDITIONS at MANA – Monthly Member Meeting – May (2018)

Please join us for this special tour and conversation with artist and printer Gary Lichtenstein at his MANA studio. Gary will speak about the process of printmaking as it relates, specifically, to silkscreen. He’ll give a tour of the studio and offer a short demo while explaining the nature of the collaborative practice of producing prints and multiples. About the Trainer:

Mara Vlatković is a communications professional and arts manager based in New York City. With previous experience in cultural diplomacy and international development in Washington D.C., she has turned her focus on start-ups and organizations that support artists and creatives in fulfilling their full potential. She has a M.A. in Culture, Policy, and Management from City University London and a B.S. in Sociology from the London School of Economics. Mara is the Founder of Young Professionals in the Arts (YPA) and provides training in digital marketing to artists and art professionals. She previously worked at the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) as the Digital Communications Officer.

Mara will be joined by AWAD’s Founder and CEO Founder Susan Mumford, an art market specialist based in London, England.
