A Winter Gathering at Sarah Wiseman Gallery features Clare Bonnet, Dean Patman and Bee Bartlett

Monday, December 5th, 2016
‘A Winter Gathering’ the festive exhibition at Oxford’s Sarah Wiseman Gallery continues until 31st December and features new work by Clare Bonnet, Dean Patman and Bee Bartlett. Also on show, Sarah Spackman, Athol Whitmore, Elaine Jones and Christopher Farrell. For more information contact Sarah Wiseman Gallery.

Clare Bonnet, whose painting ‘Scarlet Peace’ is shown here courtesy of the artist and Sarah Wiseman Gallery, is a Cornwall based artist who mixes figurative painting with abstract mark-making. This combination of techniques suggests a tension, perhaps suggestive of movement, that ‘something has happened or is about to happen’. The women in her paintings are very much a part of the creative process; she is inspired by her friends, drawing on shared female experience. Conversation between herself and her subjects is a vital starting point of each painting, giving a resonance and vibrancy.
