Suffrage at Guns & Rain Gallery

Guns & Rain gallery is pleased to share their current exhibition ‘Suffrage’. With multiple African elections taking place in 2019, this group show for Guns & Rain women artists reflects on women’s right to vote, and women’s rights more broadly – 101 years after (some) women’s suffrage.
Among other themes, these artists comment on the gendered nature of political participation, representation, history and memory, and failures of the state. Our fantastic line-up of artists includes Tuli Mekondjo (Namibia), Jenny Nijenhuis(South Africa),  Ayobola Kekere-Ekun (Nigeria), Jo Rogge (South Africa/Namibia) and Carmen Ford (South Africa).

The show is ongoing until July 24th.
