LAYERED AND ON EDGE: Cut Paper Artwork by Lauren Schwartz, curated by Kristin J. DeAngelis.

Kristin J. DeAngelis is pleased to share that she is the curator for LAYERED AND ON EDGE: Cut Paper Artwork by Lauren Schwartz, presented by SILVERMAN and The Hamilton Square Condominiums Association. The exhibition is on going through August 31st.

Lauren’s work aims to take the tools of childhood – paper, scissors, glue – and the shapes of childhood – lines, scribbles, blocks – and create vibrant, three-dimensional artwork. Her compositions are often patterns of light and dark, shape and form, color and contrast that intrigue her, and working in paper allows her to explore those visual components without regard to the accuracy of representing a specific subject or object.

“For ‘Layered and on Edge’ my goal was to show a variety of the techniques that I use to create dimension in my work”, said Lauren Schwartz. “Paper sheets overlapping each other, standing on their sides, folded into shapes and different combination of these methods. The finished pieces resemble stained glass in some cases and more traditional origami in others, but the common thread is that they are all created using only paper and glue
