Flaere Gallery  will celebrate artist Christopher Boffoli’s new book “Big Appetites – Tiny People in a World of Big Food.” on 2nd October  with a book presentation and a one-night only exhibition in Notting Hill. For full details and to RSVP click here.

In Big Appetites, Boffoli photographs tiny, hand-painted figurines of people and places them in imaginative and humorous scenarios involving real food. “There is in some part a god-like feeling to having command of an entire world, which you can rearrange at any capricious whim.” says Christopher.

Paying particular attention to colour, texture and of course, to scale, Boffoli subverts ordinary scenes, from mundane activities to often darker, more grisly happenings and creates a surreal and quirky, gastronomic world of humour and wit.

The engaging and humorous results also offer commentary on America’s overconsumption and the country’s sometimes dysfunctional relationship with food. That said, says Christopher “sometimes a popsicle is just a popsicle.”
